Learn to Sail 2021-Class Group I

Welcome to WCSC's Adult Learn to Sail class!

Before the class we ask that you take the US Sailing "Basic Keelboat Online." That allows us to spend more time on the water and less time in lecture. The cost is $50 and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. There is a quiz at the end to test your knowledge but a passing score is not a prerequisite.

The book we are using is "Learn Sailing Right- Beginner," and we will mail you a copy.

Friday evening September 24th we will have an evening lecture.

In the Friday lecture we will be covering the following information in your book: Chap 1: Preparing for Sailing, Chapter 2:  Know Your boat, Chap 3: Looking around and describing directions, Chap 4: Wind and Water, Chap 5: Points of sail, and Chapter 15: Courtesy and Navigation.

Saturday Sept. 25 and Sunday Oct. 3 will be at WCSC.
The address is 5200 West Wind Way, Anderson,  SC  29626

Please bring the following with you:
• United States Coast Guard approved lifejacket must be worn at all times. Please bring a Type 3 life jacket with you.
• Please dress in layers according to the weather forecast.
• If the forecast is for rain - bring a jacket or rain gear as we will still sail as long as no thunderstorms are forecast.
• Closed-toed shoes.
• Hat, Sunscreen and Sunglasses - A cord for the sunglasses is also a good idea.
