WCSC 2025 Club Championships



Hello WCSC

In an effort to increase participation in the Club Championships, we have decided to make a change to the format. We are opening the event to all Members of WCSC who wish to race. This will be a 'race what you have' kind of race. By that, I mean, you can race whatever boat you have as long as we can come up with a rating. I know, I know, how can a Sunfish beat a J105 or Melges 24? I have no idea, but I hope we all can find out and have a good time doing it! The Club has a written PHRF program that we will use to assign ratings if you don’t have one. Portsmouth boats will use the US Sailing conversion equation. A listing of our current ratings is present on the website. The Sailing Committee administers this program and will assign ratings to any boats that don’t have one.

The event is scheduled for the April 26th and 27th. We are planning to race both days. You don’t have to race both days, but your scores will reflect the races you don’t race. We are trying to arrange a party on Saturday evening, but we’ll see how that goes. At the very least, we’ll have cold beverages and racing “banter” on the deck afterward. I would appreciate anyone interested to preregister to assist with the logistics. I hope this helps with participation and if it’s terrible, it was my idea. No worries – we’ll have fun!
