To WCSC Members,

We had a great workday last Saturday with 10 members volunteering their time to get started on our underbrushing project.  You will notice a difference as you drive up the hill to the club house.  This underbrushing project will continue around the club over the winter and spring months.  I heard several comment last Saturday that they would not want to be doing this in July and August.  In that regard, there will be more opportunities this Saturday, February 6th, and this Sunday, February 7th, to continue this process.

The forecast looks to be good with temps rising to ~ 53 degrees on Saturday and 57 degrees on Sunday.  We will start at 9 AM and plan to work till 1 PM.  We will meet in the main parking lot near the race shed.

Our tasks will be to cut 3" dia and smaller undergrowth and limb up trees, load the debris in trailers, and haul to the boneyard pile to be chipped at a later date or to arrowhead point if it is not under water.

Bring gloves and any pruning tools you may have.  A small chain saw, large loppers, battery powered sawzall with pruning blades, bow saw, tree pruners, bush axes, etc. would be useful.  If you have a cordless hedge trimmer, I believe it maybe the most effective tool for cutting the briers and honeysuckle vines.  We struggled with this last weekend.

If you could drop me an Email at sailtanzer@aol.com and let me know if you can help either of both days, it would help me plan for workday.
