Dam Distance Race 2018 Recap

 The fifth edition of the ‘new and improved’ Dam Distance Race was held on Saturday, 14 April. The event was scheduled two weeks after Easter weekend, a  departure from earlier editions, as Easter fell on the last weekend of March this year. Organizers were concerned of the possibility of late cold fronts. Mid-April seems to be the peak of Spring colors (and pollen?) Although participation had been growing in previous editions, attendance was down somewhat this year. Those that did attend enjoyed a beautiful Spring day, reasonable wind over the ENTIRE duration of the race, a mixture of Club cruising boats and Club racing boats (and an entry of a young family new to sailing-let alone racing), a pleasant social gathering and a fabulous grilled chicken dinner after the racing. 2018 DIVA Regatta Registration is now open

The 2018 DIVA Regatta dates are set for May 5th and 6th. Come out with numbers and support this great Regatta that is dedicated to supporting Safe Harbor. All boats are welcome and you can register online here.


2018 Springboard/Highlander Midwinters

The 2018 Springboard Regatta was held this past weekend with 27 boats attending. Winners were Bruce Busbey in the Highlander fleet, Ronnie Ashmore on the Buccaneers and Paul Whitesides in the Lightning Fleet. Final results are here.

2018 Racing and Social Calendar is available

The 2018 Calendar is available for download here. Take the time to review all racing, parties, Regatta's and other planned club events for the upcoming year. In addition, the calendar is being updated on the website calendar as well and should be completed shortly. Take Note: Find your assigned RC duty date and mark your personal calendar.

2018 Race Committee crew and PROs...

WCSC members can find an alphabetized list of 2018 race committee assignments by clicking on the "Race Committee Assignment" button in the menu list at the left margin of any website page. PROs can find the contact information for their crew by clicking on "Race Committee PRO's Page". As contact information is involved, PROs must be logged in to access the "PRO's Page".

2018 Sailing Events in the Region 

WCSC Sailors support events all over the Southeast Region of the U.S. WCSC is also a member of SAYRA (South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association). Click here to view the SAYRA Calendar of events for our region. If you would like WCSC sailors to participate in your event and your event posted on the WCSC website, please email your NOR to the WCSC Commodore.
