Calling all WCSC members with a passion for our youth sailing program!
Do you have a passion for youth sailing? Would you like to get involved in growing a thriving, year round, inclusive Youth Sailing Program at WCSC?
For the past months we have worked behind the scenes on an extensive plan to get more kids out sailing on the water. The existing junior sailing program in the summer has been a fabulous asset to our club and we wanted to expand on its success by making it year round.
Our goal is to develop a professional, well run, year round, fun, youth sailing program in which kids grow from beginner sailors into wholesome, skilled sailors, who are capable of inspiring the next generation of young sailors in the years to come. Plans include adventure sailing, big boat sailing, a junior race team, an annual junior regatta, off shore excursions for teens, intercollegiate/interscholastic sailing and more.
The plan spans over 5 years, and was recently unanimously approved by the board. However, we can’t do it alone, we need YOUR help to make it happen. We are looking for parents, technically savvy people, content writers, and people with passion and energy for youth sailing, to help get this started. The first pilot phase kicks off in April, with a weeklong sailing camp for beginners and intermediate youth sailors. If you would like your budding sailor to be part of this, please keep an eye out for the email with sign up information.
