The Cruising Fleet will be hosting a Cruise to Hartwell Marina on Saturday July 24th. Members have been asking for a long overnight so here it is. This one should be a lot of fun. We are combining a long sail with a purpose. The plan is to meet at the swamp fire pit at 11 am on July 24th for the skippers meeting and leave the dock around noon. We will sail south towards the dam and turn west around “13 LLC“ which leads towards Hartwell Marina. The distance is about 10 miles one way. The plan is to sail into the marina where you can tie up to a dock or anchor, the choice is yours. I will have a boat available to ferry folks onto the dock. At the marina there is a nice pavilion type restaurant where we will have lunch. Yes, they have beer and wine. Those who wish can stay and listen to music for the evening and hang around the area for the night or head back to the club. Since it is light until around 9pm, it will be no problem to sail back to the club before dark. My personal plan is to go no matter what the wind does. I can motor there in two hours easily. I plan to spend the night and sail up to Waldrops on Sunday morning for breakfast then back to the club.
