For 2017, the WCSC Cruising Fleet is bringing in some changes to our Annual Commodore’s Cup and Frostbite Regatta series.
The schedule of events has been expanded to 4 events, beginning on New Year’s Day with the Commodore’s Cup, followed by January 14, February 11th and culminates with the Bud Light Cup on February 25th. Skippers meetings will be @1100 with First horn @ 1230.
We’ll be using courses based on government buoys. While this series is somewhat ‘informal’, it’s an excellent opportunity for cruisers to stretch their skills mid-winter. We’ll keep our series records for crowning the champions at our 2018 Annual banquet! Lighter racing craft will be judged separately from cruisers.
The Frostbite series is open to all sailors willing to brave the cold. We’ll be taking more than the wind into consideration when determining the course, if it’s a particularly frigid day we’ll be opting for a much shorter course, and on warmer opportunities, stretch it out a bit. We don’t want our volunteer Race Committee to be freezing their buns off any longer than needed, while we’re having fun sailing!
Lake Hartwell presents some of the best wind of the year during the Frostbite season. We hope you’ll find the spark it takes to start the New Year out on the proper tack – Sailing!
Look forward to seeing many of you there!
